Physics
I was born in Karlsruhe and grew up in the northern Black Forest area of Germany. After studying Physics initially at Karlsruhe University, I moved to Grenoble (France) and completed my training with M.Sc degree equivalents in both France and Germany. After 3 years of PhD research in bio-physics at the CEA Grenoble center, I entered my professional carreer with a startup bioinformatics company in Heidelberg.Information Technology
I was fortunate to experience throughout my career more than 25 years of (information) technology, predominantly in the life sciences and in clinical IT. From the starting blocks as a researcher or software engineer to VP level, I have whitnessed a large bouquet of professional situations, i.e. from start-up spirit to a publicly listed company, from a technology apprentice to manager of my own teams, from an admirer of visions to a loyal advocate of planning and execution realism (which ultimately makes the difference to mere hallucination).

I do regard myself as a technologist and find an increasing pleasure in going back to my Physics roots or touching other tech/IT areas. This interest, though, is paired with my other love for both creativity and communication. The latter, I reckon, is the result of having very sensitive antennas for language, esthetics, other people’s emotions and non-verbal communication.
Eventually, to unite creativity – technology – communication under the same roof, isn’t an easy task and requires a certain discipline in work-life balance, an experience I am trying to share with you on this web site – both on the professional and on the leisure level.
